Three of the Best Live Poker events and festivals this summer.
Fans of the Online Poker format may want to try their hand at some live poker events over the next couple of months and they will have some crackers to choose from!
London’s Leicester Square will host the popular fresco festival, Poker in the Park, event next week after the overwhelming success last year.
Running between August 15 and 16, 4pm to 9pm each evening, with the Internet 3D poker website PKR sponsoring the Poker Dome, in which they will host free hourly Texas Hold'em single-table sit-and-go tournaments. The event schedule includes a number of interesting competitions, including the SubTV Student Poker League Cup; the London Pub Poker Trophy; the Royal Surrey Tournament; the Poker Project Trophy; the Nuts Poker League Challenge; the England Poker League Cup and the Bluff Europe Championship.
The founder of London Pub Poker, Steve Hedger, says that Poker in the Park is a great opportunity for people new to poker to enjoy themselves and expand their knowledge in the process. "London is one of the most vibrant poker cities in the world, and the game is as popular as ever,"
Gala Poker and Casino's are your host for the Great British poker Tour which last year was featured on ITV4.
The Gala Tour was a highly competitive event in 2007. This year they are taking in 6 regional festivals hosted in friendly and hospitable Gala Casinos. Each festival will run a £500+£50 No Limit Hold'Em Main Event with two 'day ones'. making them a little more affordable to amateur players. Gala Casinos will add an extra £5,000 to the main event prize fund.
Festival side events include £100 and £200 NLHE Freeze-Outs as well as Rebuy tournaments and cash games. The Tour crescendos at the end of 2008 with a seven day Grand Final which will crown a worthy GCBPT champion. Each regional winner from 2008 Main Event Festivals automatically gains entry into the Grand Final Main Event as a package.
The GCBPT gives you plenty of opportunities to qualify online. You can set up an account at LTDPoker.com and simply follow the GCBPT-tab from the lobby area. They are offering seats to all Festival main events and with a full schedule of online satellites, ranging from freerolls to direct buy-ins, players of every level will have a chance to get involved in the Gala Casinos British Poker Tour!
And for players in Ireland check out the Ladbroke’s Killarney Irish Poker Festival 2008 which includes the €250,000 guaranteed Main Event. The 3 day Festival will be held between the 2nd and the 5th of October 2008, at the Irish National Events centre in Killarney, Co Kerry, Ireland.
The €250,000 guaranteed €500 + €50 Main Event will be held over 3 days (3rd to 5th October). Players will start with 15,000 chips and one hour blinds and is a European ranking event.
